Skin-Hydrating Coconut Smoothie Recipe

Skin-Hydrating Coconut Smoothie Recipe
Exposure to UV rays dries out the top layers of skin and compromises collagen and elastin for accelerated aging. Luckily, staying hydrated with water or healthy beverages can combat these ill effects. Holistic nutritionist, Athena Meshkin, shares one of her favorite recipes for keeping skin supple. Try this healthy, nutritionist-approved coconut smoothie recipe to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.

About this recipe & The ingredients

Here’s why the ingredients for this coconut smoothie recipe are ideal for hydrating skin. “It combines coconut water, cacao nibs, and chia seeds that are high in omega fatty acids and amazing for hydration,” Athena explains.

Coconut water

First, coconut water is full of antioxidants, amino acids, enzymes, B-complex vitamins, vitamin C. It also contains minerals like iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and zinc. These micronutrients keep the body strong and the electrolytes protect against dehydration.

Coconut Yogurt

Using coconut yogurt combines these benefits with added probiotic power. What does gut bacteria have to do with glowing skin? Well, irritation in the gut can lead to acne and other skin problems. Probiotics ensure that good bacteria regulate our digestive health for overall wellbeing. Pro Tip: look for a pure coconut water and a coconut yogurt that includes “live active cultures” to reap maximum benefits. Avoid any coconut water or yogur that includes added sugars.

Chia Seeds

Next, small in size but mighty in nature, chia seeds can absorb up to 10 times their own weight in water. Not only do they help to lubricate our digestive tract, but they also provide antioxidants to combat free radical damage and healthy omega fatty acids.

Cacao Nibs

Cacao nibs offer yet another form of protective antioxidants and a chocolatey taste without adding sugar.

Raw Beauty Green Superfood Powder

Finally, our Raw Beauty Green Superfood Powder delivers a powerful blend of alkalizing greens, detoxifying herbs, and beauty-boosting phytonutrientsβ€”plus, a delicious mint-chocolate flavor to boot. Enjoy!
