First, too little sleep can throw the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hsph.harvard.edu\/obesity-prevention-source\/obesity-causes\/sleep-and-obesity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hormones that control hunger<\/a> out of balance, causing you to crave foods that are rich in fat and carbohydrates and snack more often than if well rested.\n\nThen, one study at the Skin Study Center of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/25266053\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University Hospitals Case Medical Center<\/a> found that poor-quality sleepers showed more signs of aging, including reduced elasticity of the skin, fine lines, and uneven pigmentation.\n\nFinally, to really kill your vibe, a lack of sleep can even lead to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/sleep-disorders\/features\/relationships#1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decreased interest<\/a> in sex.\n\n<figure id=\"attachment_7755\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7755\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7755\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/hum-nutrition-inc\/image\/upload\/v1517968790\/giphy-2.gif\" alt=\"Sleep Deprivation - Fall Asleep Faster - The Wellnest by HUM Nutrition\" width=\"500\" height=\"267\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7755\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">via Giphy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>The Solution Scientists Suggest To Fall Asleep Faster<\/h2>\nLuckily, researchers have recently discovered a simple five-minute trick that&#8217;ll help you fall asleep faster. A study at the Sleep Neuroscience and Cognitive Laboratory at Baylor University had 57 participants split into two groups. The first group spent five minutes before bed writing a list of accomplishments for that day. The second group spent the same five minutes writing a list of things they wanted to accomplish the next day.\n\nThe result? Participants who made a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/4-habits-highly-focused-people\/\">to-do list<\/a> for the next day fell asleep significantly faster.\n\n&#8220;We live in a 24\/7 culture in which our to-do lists seem to be constantly growing and causing us to worry about unfinished tasks at bedtime,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baylor.edu\/mediacommunications\/news.php?action=story&amp;story=192388\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">says lead study author\u00a0Michael K. Scullin<\/a>.\n\nHis team hypothesizes that writing a to-do list allows people to off-load their worries.
