With sold-out classes in studios and at farms across the country, this workout is equal parts amazing and hilarious. The poses are the same as a standard vinyasa class, more or less, and you can still get a good workout doing everything from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/chaturanga\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"\">chaturanga<\/a> to bridge pose, but there\u2019s an added element of laughter, levity, and unpredictability with the addition of tiny farm friends. It sounds like a good time, but what are the benefits of goat yoga? Keep reading to find out.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-goat-yoga\">What Is Goat Yoga?<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s what goat yoga is all about: It\u2019s a group yoga class with the addition of live baby goats who are guided by their trainers to interact with students in specific poses. The classes at <a href=\"https:\/\/laughingfrogyoga.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Laughing Frog Yoga<\/a> in Los Angeles, for instance, are run in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/partygoats.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Party Goats LA<\/a>. In the classes, two adorable baby yoga goats named Spanky and Pippin accompany two goat trainers. A yoga instructor teaches the class just as she normally would, except the baby yoga goats have free rein to come and climb on top of you in your practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-dominant-color=\"b2ab9a\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #b2ab9a;\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"457\" src=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Goat-Yoga.jpg\" alt=\"Goat Yoga. They\u2019ll also go under your legs during warrior and other standing poses,\u201d says goat trainer Scout Raskin.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Indeed, the goat trainers guide the baby goats with feed and also stop them from occasionally munching on a ponytail. (Trainers also take responsibility for cleaning up any accidents. But be warned: There\u2019s no guarantee a goat won\u2019t do its business while on top of your back.)<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-goat-yoga-origin\"><strong>Goat Yoga Origin<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>So why goat yoga? We first witnessed it as early as February 2016. Insta-yogi Rachel Brathen shared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BBigbJpPhbJ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">videos of her baby goat<\/a> climbing over her back during her home practice. Shortly after, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goatyoga.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a farm in Oregon<\/a> started offering goat yoga classes. Then, the trend spread to a farm in <a href=\"https:\/\/jennessfarm.com\/goat-yoga-nh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Hampshire<\/a>. News outlets were quick to catch on and it\u2019s since become a worldwide sensation with international offerings. And what are the benefits of goat yoga? It\u2019s not going to mirror the workout you\u2019ll get in your hot Bikram flow, but there\u2019s still something for everyone.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-physical\"><strong>Physical<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Admittedly, this isn\u2019t the most physically intensive workout I\u2019ve partaken in. Although the 25-pound goats can add a little extra resistance to your planks, they have a lot of people to circulate through in the sold-out classes so they don\u2019t exactly linger for a long hold.
