They\u2019re rich in antioxidants<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Peaches contain polyphenols, a potent class of antioxidants that help fight oxidative stress. \u201cOxidative stress damages cells and tissues and contributes to aging and chronic disease development over time,\u201d Bridson explains.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>They also pack <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/87559129.2020.1837861\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">other antioxidants and polyphenols<\/a> that may play a role in protecting against diabetes, obesity, and hypertension, as well as cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disease.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-they-may-help-lower-cholesterol\">3. Per the <a href=\"https:\/\/health.clevelandclinic.org\/carotenoids\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cleveland Clinic<\/a>, carotenoids are also helpful to protect the heart and reduce the risk of certain cancers.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-they-can-help-you-manage-your-weight\">5.
