Dry scalp is typically triggered by a lack of moisture (i.e., dry skin), whereas dandruff is caused by excessive sebum production and yeast overgrowth on the scalp.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cDandruff is more likely the culprit of your dry, flaky scalp if your flakes are paired with a consistently oily scalp,\u201d Dr. Saedi explains.
