But why has olive oil become a trending topic in the wellness world lately?\u00a0 Let\u2019s explore why olive oil is trending and dive deeper into the benefits of olive oil that are fueling its resurgence in popularity.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-the-sudden-obsession-with-olive-oil\">Why the Sudden Obsession with Olive Oil?<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>So, why all the buzz? Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is celebrated for its impressive nutritional profile and health benefits. Unlike seed oils, EVOO is minimally processed and has an array of nutrients.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s why the benefits of olive oil are being embraced worldwide:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Fat Profile<\/strong>: EVOO is predominantly composed of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/2304-8158\/9\/8\/1014\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> monounsaturated fats, specifically oleic acid<\/a>, which has been shown to <strong>support heart health <\/strong>by reducing levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol while increasing HDL (good) cholesterol. For example, 1 tbsp of olive contains around 119 calories, totaling 833 calories over 7 days, and this doesn\u2019t include additional milks\/syrups\/flavors you may be adding in (yikes!).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>The Takeaway: <\/strong>That said, if you enjoy olive oil in your coffee and prefer it over milks and syrups, then I\u2019m a fan, considering its minimal ingredients and healthy fat profile. Influencers are drizzling their beloved nightly scoop of vanilla ice cream with olive oil and some flaky salt, saying that it\u2019s their new favorite ice cream topping that they can\u2019t live without. While I haven\u2019t tried it and can\u2019t confirm if it lives up to the hype, it combines two of my favorite things, so I don\u2019t see why I wouldn\u2019t also be a fan.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>The Cons<\/strong>: While adding olive oil to ice cream might introduce some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/healthy-fats-list\/\">healthy fats<\/a>, it also increases the calorie content of an already indulgent treat.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>The Takeaway:<\/strong> Those looking for a healthier yet indulgent treat may find great satisfaction with the Ninja Creamy and can reserve Olive Oil Icream for a more indulgent treat here and there. This gadget has all of the same hype that the air frier once had, and \u201chealthy\u201d ice cream recipes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/channel\/ninja-creami-recipes?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">all over TikTok<\/a> can be found that boost higher protein and lower sugar yet are delicious at-home \u201cice cream.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-trend-3-olive-oil-shots-for-glowing-skin\">Trend #3: Olive Oil Shots for Glowing Skin<\/h3>\n\n\n<p><strong>The Pros<\/strong>: Taking olive oil shots for skin health has gained popularity, especially on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/discover\/olive-oil-for-skin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">platforms like TikTok.<\/a> Olive oil is rich in nutrients that may support skin health, including vitamins A and E, and healthy monounsaturated fats. Some dermatologists and skin experts suggest that these nutrients might aid in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byrdie.com\/olive-oil-for-skin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">skin hydration<\/a>.\u00a0 Olive oil also contains squalane and vitamin E, both of which are known for their moisturizing properties.
