The word on the street is that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/how-to-eat-for-blood-sugar-balance-aka-glucose\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"\">cinnamon may help support blood sugar levels<\/a>. But the truth is, the research is mixed. A <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/35807953\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">review<\/a> looking at the effect of cinnamon and its impact on glucose among people with Type 2 Diabetes, found that cinnamon improved blood sugar lab values suggesting it\u2019s beneficial for blood sugar support. However, some other studies did not see cinnamon as having a significant impact on blood sugar management. First and most importantly, it has caffeine, but not too much to bring on the jitters. Eight ounces of black tea has 47 mg of caffeine (compared to 91 mg in a cup of coffee). Not to mention, it has one of our favorite nutrients, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4787341\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">L-theanine<\/a>, an amino acid that brings on feelings of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6836118\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">calmness<\/a> by increasing brain <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/17182482\/#:~:text=Animal%20neurochemistry%20studies%20suggest%20that,AMPA%2C%20Kainate%20and%20NMDA%20receptors.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">serotonin and dopamine<\/a> (your feel-good chemicals) and <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/17182482\/#:~:text=Animal%20neurochemistry%20studies%20suggest%20that,AMPA%2C%20Kainate%20and%20NMDA%20receptors.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GABA<\/a> levels (a chemical messenger in your brain known to produce a calming effect).<\/p>\n\n\n<p>If that\u2019s not enough, some studies have shown that black tea may have heart-healthy benefits such as reducing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6512146\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cholestero<\/a>l levels and risk of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6512146\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stroke<\/a> thanks to its high polyphenol content.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-your-guide-to-buying-chai-tea\">Your Guide to Buying Chai Tea<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>There are many different types of chai tea, with the most popular kind in the United States best resembling Masala chai which is typically made with the above spices, black tea, steamed milk, and a sweetener.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Chai tea can be found in many grocery stores sold in tea bags or you can also buy it as a concentrate. If you\u2019re dairy-free, I recommend asking for it with almond milk. Also, keep in mind that most nut milk contains added sweeteners so if you\u2019re going the dairy-free route you may not need anything additional. However, the holidays come with a lot of sweet treats, so I like to modify some with a healthy spin to help balance it all out!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-healthy-taylor-swift-chai-cookie-recipe\">Healthy Taylor Swift Chai Cookie Recipe<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>This healthy spin on Taylor Swift\u2019s Chai Cookies recipe follows Taylor\u2019s original format but with a few substitutions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>First, the one thing that stood out to me in this recipe was the amount of sugar between the sugar in the mix and the powdered sugar on the top. So, instead, I choose to use maple syrup and coconut sugar given it\u2019s a natural sweetener that compliments the flavors of chai.
