But before you can even make a decision, the tiredness washes over you and you revert back to exactly what you had yesterday (and the day before that and the day before that). You\u2019re not alone: It\u2019s incredibly easy to keep one particular meal on repeat.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In fact, celebrities supposedly swear by this strategy. According to TikTok, Jennifer Aniston ate the same salad every day on the set of <em>Friends <\/em>for 10 years (though Aniston herself says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.in\/thelife\/food\/news\/jennifer-aniston-says-the-salad-she-ate-daily-on-the-friends-set-is-totally-different-from-the-recipe-going-viral-on-tiktok\/articleshow\/92264311.cms#:~:text=The%20legend%20of%20Aniston's%20salad,Cobb%20salad%2C%22%20Cox%20said.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the salad she ate<\/a> is different than the viral TikTok recipe). She isn\u2019t the only meal repeater: Celebrities are known for their can\u2019t-live-without-them signature smoothies (see: Hailey Bieber\u2019s Strawberry Glaze <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/post-workout-smoothie-recipes\/\">Smoothie<\/a>), and Mariah Carey<a href=\"https:\/\/www.self.com\/story\/mariah-carey-says-she-only-eats-norwegian-salmon-and-capers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> has claimed<\/a> she eats only Norwegian salmon and capers. But is it ok to eat the same thing every day? We asked an RD to weigh in.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-is-it-bad-to-eat-the-same-thing-everyday\">Is It Bad to Eat the Same Thing Everyday?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img data-dominant-color=\"c1ad91\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #c1ad91;\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/eat-same-thing-every-day.jpg\" alt=\"eat the same thing every day \" class=\"wp-image-31473 not-transparent\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>In short, no. Eating the same thing every day isn\u2019t bad for you, but it may not be the most healthful option either. There are some cons to it, such as nutrition gaps and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/what-is-burnout\/\">burnout<\/a>, says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/author\/gaby-vaca-flores\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"\">Gaby Vaca-Flores<\/a>, RDN, CLE, educational specialist at HUM Nutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor the most part, there are more cons to eating the same thing every day than there are pros,\u201d Vaca-Flores says. So while it\u2019s not the worst thing you can do diet-wise, it\u2019s not the best thing you can do either (sorry to all the creatures of habit out there).<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-does-eating-the-same-thing-every-day-do-to-your-body\">What Does Eating the Same Thing Every Day Do To Your Body?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img data-dominant-color=\"54574e\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #54574e;\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/is-it-ok-to-eat-the-same-thing-every-day.jpg\" alt=\"is it ok to eat the same thing every day\" class=\"wp-image-31474 not-transparent\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen you eat the same thing over and over again, you run the risk of running low on certain nutrients that may not be present in your daily menu,\u201d Vaca-Flores says. Take for instance the famed Jennifer Aniston salad: It does have an impressive range of carbs, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/why-do-we-need-protein\/\">protein<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/healthy-fats-list\/\">healthy fats<\/a> from bulgur wheat, veggies, fresh herbs, chickpeas, pistachio, feta, turkey bacon, and EVOO.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Still, not all go-to meals offer this kind of nutrition. (Plus, even Jennifer Anison would be lacking in certain nutrients if she truly ate this salad every single day.)<\/p>\n\n\n<p>By sticking to the exact same menu every single day, you\u2019re missing out on the variety of benefits that different foods have to offer. \u201cEating an array of foods, particularly whole foods, can help ensure you are getting a variety of nutrients and other beneficial compounds like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/benefits-of-soluble-fiber-vs-insoluble-fiber\/\">fiber<\/a>, prebiotics, and antioxidants,\u201d Vaca-Flores says. \u201cIn fact, diversity in your diet can help promote diversity in your gut microbiome.\u201d (It\u2019s true\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4837298\/#:~:text=The%20more%20diverse%20the%20diet,narrow%20the%20GI%20microbiome%20further.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">studies<\/a> show that a diverse diet creates a more diverse gut microbiome, which can make it more adaptable to changes.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Another drawback? A repetitive eating pattern can get boring, especially if it\u2019s a restrictive diet. \u201cFor example, people following a strict meal plan that consists of the same thing daily can cause burnout and consequently cause you to revert back to old eating habits,\u201d Vaca-Flores says.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-its-not-all-bad-to-eat-the-same-thing-everyday\">Why It\u2019s Not All Bad to Eat the Same Thing Everyday<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Despite some drawbacks mentioned above, there are still benefits to having reliable meal standbys. \u201cThe biggest one, in my opinion, is that it takes away the stress of having to figure out your meals every day,\u201d Vaca-Flores says. \u201cAlso, you\u2019ve probably mastered your meal prep routine which can cut down cooking time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s also a useful strategy if your goal is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/how-much-weight-can-you-lose-in-a-month\/\">weight loss<\/a>. \u201cEating the same thing every day can also help give you control over how many calories and macronutrients you eat which might be helpful for someone who is looking to manage their weight,\u201d
