But i<\/span>deally, you&#8217;d start your day right with a balanced breakfast rich in complex carbohydrates, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/why-do-we-need-protein\/\">protein<\/a>, and maybe even some fresh produce. If you start the day eating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/cereal-addict-grocery-intervention\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sugary cereals<\/a> or pastries, your blood sugar levels will likely crash well before lunchtime. You&#8217;re then left suffering from low energy and eventually get <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/hangry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hangry<\/a>. However, the egg adds a nutritious and filling protein boost. If you prefer to make hard boiled eggs ahead of time, that&#8217;s also a great idea. You can even microwave your eggs. While it&#8217;s not my ideal choice\u2014I personally don\u2019t think they taste as good\u2014cracking one in a microwave safe bowl and putting it in the microwave for a minute <em>is<\/em> convenient.\r\n\r\nWhile your egg is cooking, you can throw a piece of your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/whole-grains-weight-loss\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">favorite bread<\/a> in the toaster. Sprouted-grain bread is ideal for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/benefits-of-soluble-fiber-vs-insoluble-fiber\/\">fiber<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/satiating-diet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">satiety<\/a>. Cut a quarter of an avocado (or more if you choose). If it&#8217;s still pretty firm, mash it up a bit before spreading it on your bread. By morning, there&#8217;s nothing left to do but grab them and go. Start by adding one cup of your milk of choice in a mason jar, then pour in a half cup of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/oat-milk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">oats<\/a>.\r\n\r\nFrom there, you can chose to top it with anything you desire. For something satisfying, pick a handful of chopped walnuts or almonds, or a tablespoon or two of your favorite nut butter. Lastly, add some chopped fruit of your choice. Berries are an excellent source of vitamin C and fiber. Not sweet enough for you? Toast one or two slices of your bread of choice, then add two tablespoons of your favorite nut butter. I like the added sweetness of pairing the toast with a banana.\r\n\r\nThis option provides lots of healthy fat and fiber. Depending on your choice of bread, you can pack in some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/protein\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">protein<\/a> as well. By making your own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/post-workout-smoothie-recipes\/\">smoothie<\/a>, you can customize what&#8217;s in them, including having enough protein and fat to make them satisfying. I also use mason jars for my smoothies to carry on the go. Blueberry spinach smoothies are among my favorites. Here&#8217;s my recipe:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>2\/3 cup plain 2% Greek yogurt (highest in protein)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>1 ripe banana<\/li>\r\n \t<li>2\/3 cup frozen blueberries<\/li>\r\n \t<li>1 cup spinach leaves<\/li>\r\n \t<li>1\/2 cup milk of choice (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/dairy-and-acne\/\">dairy<\/a>, coconut, soy, almond)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>2 teaspoons protein powder (optional)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>chia or flaxseeds (optional as an addition to or in lieu of protein powder)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3><img data-dominant-color=\"6e6343\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #6e6343;\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15560 aligncenter not-transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Egg-Muffin-Bites-Easy-Healthy-Breakfast-Ideas-The-Wellnest-by-HUM-Nutrition-770x598.jpg\" alt=\"egg muffins in cupcake tray\" width=\"770\" height=\"598\" \/><\/h3>\r\n<h3>Egg Muffin Bites or Quiche<\/h3>\r\nThis final healthy breakfast idea is one you can prepare once weekly and have a few servings ready to go on busy mornings. I recommend either buying silicone egg trays or using a cupcake tin if you have one. You can make a mixture of eggs and egg whites if you choose. My favorite add-ins are spinach, feta, and green onion, but you could use just about any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humnutrition.com\/blog\/eat-the-rainbow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vegetable<\/a> you have in your refrigerator to cook in your egg muffins. Here&#8217;s my go-to recipe:\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li>Preheat oven to 350\u00b0. Spray eight cups of a muffin tin with cooking spray and set\r\naside.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together 6 eggs and 6 egg whites, 1\/4 cup of almond milk, salt, and pepper until smooth and lightly colored.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Add in 1\/4 cup of crumbled feta, 2 tbsp of minced chives, and 1 cup of chopped spinach; stir to combine.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Fill each prepared muffin cup with the mixture and then bake in a preheated oven\r\nfor 15-17 minutes, or until the cups are solid and slightly brown on top.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Let cool 10 minutes, then remove from muffin tin. Store in an airtight container\r\nin the fridge for up to four days.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nYou can also use a shallow baking dish and create something similar, like a frittata.
